I was going to forge an idea into poem for the day, but the forging proved more difficult and time consuming than I am willing to invest so I’ll just wish you a gentle Solstice here instead.

There’s something about taking a minute to reflect upon Solstice and its significance. An old celebration linking us to the stars that’s proven the test of time, civilization, and commercialization. There’s a sort of coziness in knowing we mark the same re-birth as our long-gone ancestors, a real sense of connection…they watched the same sun rise. How hopeful! How affirming to know that light is ours once again and warmth will return to our days! At Solstice we are provided another opportunity for life.
We celebrate! Solstice gives us something to anticipate and occupy our minds during the season of darkness. We gather round each other, prepare special treats, and give presents to loved ones as a reminder of life, a token of the possibilities that lie ahead.
So here’s wishing you a gentle Solstice season kids, enjoy the family, enjoy the gift-giving, and find comfort in nature’s consistency of time, place, and promise.
Yours, Frankie
