one of my latest poems…….entitled ‘eating the sun’

My mouth waters as I pick the fruit

“Snap” the holy sound of harvest

Meanwhile, the plant’s broad green leaves

R- e- a- c- h out for greedy gulps of sun

As fast as it can drink it in,

 millions of tiny cells inside

Work, convert, work, convert

Sun into fruit, sun into energy,

Sun for me to eat.

“Snap!” the holy sound of harvest,

My mouth waters as I pick the fruit.
